This load is fast enough, very accurate, and gives no pressure problems IN MY RIFLE! I think IMR-4198 is a little faster so you should find specific load info for it.I shoot a Marlin guides and Browning 1886 in 45-70, with cast bullets from various sources. I have "accuracy loads" for cast bullets 300 or 405's with 47-51 grains 3031, and am experimenting with other high velocity charges with 4198, reloader 7, 5477, all have moderate to fierce recoil, particularly with 405 gr bullets.

Some use TP or Dacron or kapok or cotton or ?? very small/light wads atop the powder.Black powder has an even higher peak pressure spike than all of them which enables it to 'bump up' the plain base bullets. IMR SR4759 and 5744 have a bit lower peak pressure and IMR 4198 even lower still.
